Doubleweave
by Jennifer Moore

Publisher: Interweave Press
Edition: Paperback

ISBN 13: 9781596681798

Doubleweave is the art of weaving two layers of cloth at the same time, one above the other on the loom, to create beautiful cloth that is reversible yet unique on each side. Using pick-up techniques and clever color mixing, patterns emerge that are different by complementary on each side. Weavers who have unlocked the keys to doubleweave can create not only beautiful and functional cloth, but pieces that are two ore more times as wide as the loom, and even sculptural pieces. Techniques are shown for 4-shaft and 8-shaft looms. The weaving effects covered include lace, tubular weave, pick-up, color mising, and more. Detailed instructions for a sampler and other projects help the reader to master doubleweave techniques and develop infinite variations in their own weaving.

by Linda Ligon

Publisher Interweave Press
Edition Paperback

A heartening, wise and hilarious collection of personal essays about life, weaving and the creative process. The collection's extraordinary pleasures involve textiles and language equally - whether the author is exploring what it means to have a "loom-shaped life" or asking the questions "What's warp, what's weft, what are the interlacements?" Her precise, probing and often quirky language and thoughts are always engaging. Time, yarn and the works of our hands - even when the processes involved "do not yield easily to language" - are threads that run through these lively conversations.
